He has a purpose for your life - part 1
1. Your life has a purpose found only in God.
Proverbs 11:28 (The Message)
A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God-shaped life is a flourishing tree.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 (New Living Translation)
"But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit.
- Focusing on yourself will never reveal your life?s purpose.
- You were made by God and for God. Until you realise that your life will never make sense.
- The purpose for your life fits into the much larger plan of God for this world and eternity.
2. You are not an accident
Isaiah 44:2 (Amplified Bible)
Thus says the Lord, Who made you and formed you from the womb, Who will help you: Fear not, O Jacob, My servant, and you Jeshurun [the upright one--applied to Israel as a type of the Messiah], whom I have chosen.
God doesn?t play dice
God made you by purpose
Your location, race and gender were not overlooked.
Psalm 139:15-17 (Amplified Bible)
My frame was not hidden from You when I was being formed in secret [and] intricately and curiously wrought [as if embroidered with various colors] in the depths of the earth [a region of darkness and mystery].
Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them.
How precious and weighty also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
3. Why did God make us?
Ephesians 1:4 (Amplified Bible)
Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.
(Made to be loved)
James 1:18 (Amplified Bible)
And it was of His own [free] will that He gave us birth [as sons] by [His] Word of Truth, so that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures [a sample of what He created to be consecrated to Himself].
(Made for this world, the firstfruit, ownwers)
Isaiah 46:3-4 (Amplified Bible)
Listen to Me [says the Lord], O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, you who have been borne by Me from your birth, carried from the womb:
Even to your old age I am He, and even to hair white with age will I carry you. I have made, and I will bear; yes, I will carry and will save you.
(Made to be cared for)
- We would all be accidents, drifting without meaning.
- There would be no right or wrong
- No purpose in life.
- We would live to meet the demands of life and not the purpose of God. There would not be a purpose.
- The demanding things in life, not the essential things, would dictate our life.
- Do you live your life as if there is no God?
If there were no God
Our journey to discover the purpose of God will continue
Poem by Russell Kelfer
You are who you are for a reason
You?re part of an intricate plan
You?re a precious and perfect unique design
Called God?s special woman or man
You are who you are for a reason,
You?re been formed by the Master?s rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
Because there is a God!
