Luke 5:16-26
16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
17. One day as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem, were sitting there. And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick.
18 Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus.
19 When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
20. When Jesus saw their faith, he said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven."
21. The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, "Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
22. Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, "Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?
23 Which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'?
24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins. . . ." He said to the paralysed man, "I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home."
25 Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God.
26 Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, "We have seen remarkable things today."
Healing is a divine act of God
Jesus often withdrew from the crowds to pray (v6) Prayer was essential to his ministry. Maybe this was why His teachings were so effective and powerful.
Notice it was while Jesus was teaching that the 'power of the Lord was present to heal'.
When the word is taught properly people get healed. A sound teaching on healing will cause faith to arise in our hearts. As we begin to focus on God we put ourselves in a position to be blessed by His healing power.
When people come with an expectant heart it allows the Holy Spirit's anointing to move (Psalm133:1-3). People came from all over to listen to Jesus teach. The power of God was present to heal.
The same still happens today. God's healing power is present wherever children of God gather in faith to receive the Word of God. - Are you believing God for healing.
Take advantage of the corporate anointing of God that is available when children of God gather together in faith with expectant heart.
Maybe you are a preacher, pastor, or minister of the word. Make room for healing times during your ministry. Pray and seek God before hand. Then find out what God's word says on healing and go and teach the people.
You will need to step out in faith. Expect people to be healed. You will be pleasantly surprised that the power of God will be present to heal.
