6 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it."

Cain's first though was from his own mind. It was one of anger and depression. It affected his whole attitude and emotions. He became angry and it showed on his face. - Genesis 4:5. Our anger attracts demonic attention.
Cain's second though was from Satan, who else would suggest murder to him - Jude 8 -11, 1 John 3:10-12
Cain's third thought was from God - Genesis 4:7 God warned Cain that sin is lying at his door. That sin was the demonic influence and presence that would overcome him once he accepted the thought from satan to kill his brother.
When we accept the thoughts or words of God they bring us life. If we accept or make as our own the thoughts of satan they bring death. If you accept the thoughts of satan they bring death. If you accept the thought of God they open your heart to the life and power of God.
Cain could have accepted what God told him in Genesis 4:7 He would have been able to stop the demonic thoughts satan had brought to him - He did not.
