Peter's mother in-law - Authority

Matthew 8:14-15, Mark 1:30-31, Luke 4:38-39

Jesus has come to set us free from every oppression of the enemy.

After arriving from the synagogue where he had cast out an evil spirit from a man (Luke 4:31-36) he came to Simon's (Peter) house and met Simon's mother-in-law sick with fever. Jesus rebuked the fever and it left her. He spoke to the fever in the same way he spoke to the evil spirit in the man at the synagogue. Some sickness have their root in demonic activities. The word of Jesus spoken by faith and authority will redeem us from every oppression of the enemy.

What is Authority ?

Authority is the power or right to command. Authority is delegated by a higher power.

Authority comes from Jesus (Matthew 28:18). We were given authority when we received Jesus as our Lord and Saviour (Colossians 1:12-14).

We need to use our faith to exercise our authority.

The more of the word of God you put in your heart the more you will become aware of the authority of Christ available to you. (2 Peter 1:3-4)
